Debranding Vodafone K3565 Rev2

1. The Vodafone Connect Lite software on the K3565 Rev 2 (a Vodafone branded Huawei E160 modem) will not allow other network SIM cards in it. Windows just won’t recognise the modem. Running Mobile Partner also does not work.
2. You have to remove the Vodafone software by installing Huawei Mobile Partner on it using the firmware update here: http://www.huawei.com/mobileweb/en/file/download.do?f=41470&ctype=1
3. If you want to continue to use Vodafone software you may want to copy it to your PC, or onto an SD memory card in the modem stick for later use.
4. Insert the USB modem with its Vodafone SIM still installed. If you haven’t installed it before, allow the drivers to be installed.
5. Close down the Vodafone Connect Lite application. Run the Huawei software (this works on a Windows XP machine but a Windows 7 machine would not run the software successfully). It will install Mobile partner onto the stick and remove the Vodafone software. This takes a minute or so.
6. Remove the USB modem and put in a different provider’s SIM card
7. Re-insert the USB modem to your PC. If you don’t already have Mobile Partner installed, allow it to install now. Open it and you should be prompted for your unlock code. Enter the code and voila, all done.
8. If you have both Mobile Partner and Vodafone Connect Lite installed on your computer you can connect to Vodafone using either (Vodafone software allows you to check your credit remaining if you have PAYG contract) but if you want to connect to another network you will have to use Mobile Partner as the Voda software will not allow changes to the APN.
